UK Shoe Sizes in South Africa
When looking at the South Africa shoe size compared to the UK, you don’t need to worry too much. To make things simpler for shoe lovers, South Africa uses the same sizing system as the UK. While this doesn’t help with US and EU sizes, it does give you one less conversion to worry about.
The UK and SA systems use lower numbers for shoe sizes. The UK sizes include children’s size 0 to size 14 shoes. The sizing system also includes adult sizes from size 0 to size 15 shoes. The actual range of shoe sizes available does depend on both the manufacturer and the style.
The UK/SA system is the one used on the dc1.co.za website.
Euro Shoe Size to SA
The EU shoe sizing deals with double-digit numbers and ranges from size 15 (for babies) to size 50 (for really tall humans). The EU system works on half sizes like the UK and US systems. But a conversion table can make finding the right US/SA shoes a lot easier.
So next time you’re wondering how to find an EU size 36 shoe in South Africa, you can consult our size guide.
US Shoe Size to SA
The US shoe sizing works similarly to the UK/SA shoe size system. It has separate kids and adults numbering and uses lower numbers. Unfortunately, this is where the similarities end.
The US sizes are generally about 1 to 2 numbers higher than the South African shoe sizes. For example, a ladies size 8 in SA would be a US size 9.
Shoe Size Charts South Africa
Whether you’re looking for black heels or white sneakers, shoe size plays a big role in buying footwear. As shoe lovers ourselves, we understand the importance of a shoe that fits right. And since you can’t try shoes on when shopping online on DC.ONE, our size guide is the next best thing.
Note: These shoe size charts are meant as general guidelines used by various shoe manufacturers. They are not necessarily the exact sizes of our shoes.
Shoe Size Chart Women
Size conversion between the US, EU, and UK/SA may seem overwhelming at first. But when it comes to women’s shoes, US sizes are typically two and a half numbers higher than those in South Africa. For example, a UK size 6 in South Africa is the same size as a US size 8.5.
Unfortunately, things are not as simple when it comes to converting an EU shoe size to UK. Luckily, there are conversion tables to make your life easier when buying your next pair of Miss Black or Butterfly Feet shoes.

Why It’s Important to Choose the Right Shoe Size
Your feet support the weight of your entire body while protecting your feet. Needless to say, they do a lot of hard work throughout the day. Whether it is too big or too small, a shoe that is the wrong size can cause discomfort, shoe bites, blisters, and rubbing. Having comfy shoes is especially important when you're planning a vacation, whether it's a holiday in South Africa or abroad.
The right size shoe will improve your day, give you confidence and keep you moving for long. Selecting the right pair of shoes in the right size will not only give you both comfort and mobility but will also eliminate any shoe pain.
While initially wearing a shoe can cause a little discomfort when you first buy it, after a few hours it’ll be worn in and should no longer hurt you. The wrong-sized shoe can’t be worn in and the pain will not cease over time.
There are also more serious reasons to motivate choosing the right size footwear. The wrong size shoe can cause injuries and even deformities like bunions, corns, calluses, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, and hammertoes.
Finding the Right Shoe Size Shopping Online
Trying on shoes in-store is one of the best ways to check for the right fit, however, online stores have a larger variety, allow for greater convenience, and are sometimes more affordable. Luckily, most online stores have a size guide and will happily refund you if you’re unhappy with your purchase.
The best way to get the right shoe size delivered to your door is to know your shoe size. If you don’t already know your shoe size, there are ways to find out at home.
One way to do it is to stand with your heel against a wall. Them with a ruler or measuring tape, measure from the wall to the tip of your biggest toe in centimetres. You can place a piece of A4 paper under your foot to ensure you get an accurate measurement.
Tip: Make sure to measure both feet as often one foot can be bigger than the other.
Are Shoe Sizes Standardised?
It is worth noting that different shoe brands and makes will vary in size since they all have different manufacturers and can differ in both length and breadth.
The sizes can also fluctuate based on the type of shoe you’re buying, for example, heels vs. sneakers. These two types of shoes fit very differently and as such the sizes may not be consistent.
But luckily these variations shouldn’t be massive. And, as such, size guides can be a useful way to find the right shoe fit.
Shoe Size Converter South Africa Summary
Similarly to clothes, shoe sizes aren’t perfect. Often you’ll have to try on a size up or a size down if your typical shoe size isn’t quite right. With the rise of online shopping, trying on multiple shoes is a challenge (especially on Black Friday).
But once you know your shoe sizes, as well as the exact length of your feet, it can make shopping for shoes online a lot easier. And if you know how to convert an EU, US, and UK shoe size in South Africa, you can’t go wrong.
